About the Bonners January 7, 2008

Each year, TCNJ recruits and selects a diverse group of incoming students to participate in a 4 year “domestic peace corps” program: the Bonner Community Scholars Corps. There individuals spend a minimum of 300 hours working collaboratively with community partners to improve the quality of life in Trenton and the surrounding area. In exchange, these leaders receive tuition scholarships. Started in 2004, there are currently 60 Bonners working to address the unment needs of the community.

nothing recaptures an issue like first-person experience. may the lessons you learn while your hands are dirty stay with you for life when you return. and may you find a means to express that so others may share in your knowledge.

i visited NOLA last year, but was unable to tour some of the more physically ravaged areas. survivors spoke to us. not just hurricane survivors, but survivors of devastating & unrepairable personal tragedy. it stuck me how strong they were–determined and without fear.

may you find strength in kinship.
i look forward to reading your continued posts.
