Today was quite an interesting day. As we flew out of Newark Airport, I was ecstatic. On the plane, I met a girl from New Jersey, Jessica, who attends Tulaine University. She told me that the city of New Orleans was still quite devastated by the storm, which was exactly what I had figured.
When we landed in New Orleans and walked through the airport, I met two interesting men. They seemed quite interested in my situation and why I had come to New Orleans. It was extremely easy to converse with such friendly folks. After explaining my situation and why I had come to New Orleans, they seemed very impressed. However, both gentleman added that the keys to rebuilding this great city are the inhabitants. I found their words of wisdom interesting.

Where the two folks in the airport residents themselves? Have you had a chance to speak with any residents and what thoughts have they shared?
I think their comments were interesting as well–but how would the average person or any poor individual deal with such devastation on their own?

I am always very impressed with those few selfless people left in the world, who drop whatever they are doing to serve those in need. Given what you said, the people of New Orleans seem warm and inviting, definitely more of an incentive to want to help rebuild their city. Their positivity is simply awe-inspiring, imagine being positive after all you have ever known has fallen to pieces; what a resilient and strong group of people.
